Partners in Learning
Kirk Sandall Infant Academy was designated as a Teaching School in 2013. Teaching Schools have been designated to take a lead role in leading the training and professional development of teachers, from initial teacher training to headship as well as contributing to the raising of standards through school to school support.
Partners in Learning aims to create an inclusive and productive partnership which will lead to the improvement of teaching and learning and improved outcomes for pupils across all schools within the teaching school alliance.
The alliance will utilise the expertise from across the alliance to support and improve the quality of teaching and learning, the experience of students engaged in initial teacher training and improve the outcomes for pupils within schools from across the region.
The role of the teaching school:
As well as offering training and support for their alliance, Partners in Learning will identify and co-ordinate expertise from their alliance, using the best leaders and teachers to:
- play a greater role in training new entrants to the profession
- lead peer-to-peer learning
- spot and nurture leadership potential
- provide support for other schools
- designate and broker Specialist Leaders of Education
- engage in research and development
Being designated as a Teaching School has created lots of exciting opportunities for our school including the opportunity for one of our teachers to visit China.
