The Beak Update…
Hello and welcome to the Summer update from The Beak Centre.
Summer Timetable
Our Summer Timetable is now available which covers the period from 26th July to 4th September 2010. These will be sent out to all registered families shortly or you can pick up a copy from the centre.
We have three trips planned this summer including Weston Park Museum in Sheffield, Clifton Park in Rotherham and to Cleethorpes. These can be booked by contacting the centre from 14th June onwards. Lots of exciting events will be happening during our weekly Stay & Play sessions including visits from Rovers In the Community, Sam’s Safari, the Story Bus, Warburtons Bakers and a Puppet Making Workshop. As usual families with under 5’s are welcome to bring older siblings.
National Breastfeeding Event – Wednesday 23rd June 2010
To celebrate National Breastfeeding Awareness Week from 21-27th June, we are holding a Teddy Bears Picnic on Wednesday 23rd June between 12 – 3:30 pm. All expectant mums and those with experience of or interest in breastfeeding are welcome.
Breastfeeding Peer Counsellor Programme
We will be starting our second Breastfeeding Peer Counsellor Programme in September and will be holding an information session on Tuesday 12th July from 1-3pm. If you have successfully breastfed at least one of your children and would like to use your experiences to support others then please come along. For more information please call Emma at The Beak on 01302 892000.
Toddle Waddle
Thanks to everyone who took part in the centre Toddle Waddle on 1st April to raise funds to support Meningitis Research. We are pleased to announce the total raised was £1008.00. Everyone enjoyed toddling with Monty the duck and lots of families made a fantastic effort with decorated hats and fancy dress.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family over the summer.
Thank you
The Beak Centre Team
Healthy Living Week
Last week we had an extremely successful Healthy Living Week. The children had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of physical activities including Skipping Workshops, Circus Skills activities, Tennis and Tai Chi.
The week also created a wealth of cross-curricular learning opportunities including daily challenges, diaries and posters. They also really enjoyed planning and eating healthy foods. Our particular thanks go to Flavio’s dad, who owns Santinis restaurant on Netherhall Road as he came into school and made Pizza with all the children (and adults) in Classes 1,2 and 3.
The photographs from last week will soon be available for you to see on the Life Channel and lots of the children’s work will be displayed around school.
