Harvest Festival
We have again planned a Harvest celebration in school for all the children on Thursday 20 October. As part of our commitment to help the children understand more about the diversity of the world they live in we would appreciate it if you could send a small donation of food and talk to the children about where the food has come from. This year we have again decided that we would like to donate the food brought into school to members of the local community. We would like each class to make up boxes of food for people who would particularly appreciate them and then deliver them to them. We would really appreciate your help with this please and would like you to nominate people in the community to receive these gifts. Please can you let class teachers or myself have the names and addresses of anyone you would like to nominate and please can you check with them that they are happy to have them personally delivered by our children.
PTA
As a school we are extremely lucky to have such supportive parents and families. We really appreciate the work of our very active parent teacher association which contributes greatly to the life of the school. The money raised enables us to purchase additional resources and also provide many experiences that enhance the curriculum for the children. For example school funds have allowed us to book visits to Harlow Carr for the children in Y1/2 later this month and Science workshops for our Science Week.
Our next big fund raise will be our Christmas Fayre and we need to start planning ahead very soon. Last year a fantastic group of parents, grandparents and friends worked really hard to plan a wonderful Christmas and Summer Fayre and it would be great if we could gather together a group for this year.
Be Safe
I would like to remind everyone at the beginning of the new school year that although the crossing area created on Graham Road near our gate is there to provide a safer place to cross, it is not a Zebra crossing. The speed bumps and crossing area have done much to improve the safety for our children and families however, it is important to realise that cars are not required to stop like they would if it was a Zebra crossing.
May I also remind everyone that it is illegal to park on the yellow lines around school and that it is not permitted for anyone to access the school sites through The BEAK (Children Centre) car park. All these measures are in place to ensure the safety of children and families so please abide by them. I, along with many parents, have been very concerned about the amount of thoughtless parking at the beginning of this term and have requested that the parking enforcement team make regular visits.
Please can I also remind everyone that due to health and safety parents / guardians are not permitted to park in the school car park unless they are collecting a child in an emergency. It is important to remember that this also applies when collecting children from after school clubs.
I’m sure that as parents, you will all agree that we must all work together to keep our children safe.
