Computing

At KSIS, we use the Purple Mash computing scheme to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence in technology in KS1. Purple Mash is a comprehensive, child-friendly platform that introduces pupils to key computing skills through engaging, interactive activities. From simple coding and digital storytelling to art, music, and online safety, the scheme supports children in developing essential digital literacy in a fun and accessible way.

Through carefully structured lessons, pupils learn how to use technology purposefully and responsibly.

Purple Mash encourages problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity. By providing a safe online environment, we ensure that children build positive habits and understand the importance of staying safe online. Our aim is to equip every child with the skills and confidence they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

In addition, we teach online safety through the 2BeSafe programme, which helps children understand how to stay safe, respectful, and responsible when using technology.

Through age-appropriate lessons, pupils learn about protecting personal information, recognising trusted adults, and what to do if something online makes them feel uncomfortable. This consistent focus on online safety ensures that children not only develop strong computing skills, but also the awareness and confidence to navigate the digital world safely.

Computing is made up of 3 strands:
